EBT Deposits on Weekends & Holidays
Why food stamps usually load even on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays — and which states are the exception.
The short answer
In most states, your EBT deposit arrives on its scheduled day no matter what day of the week it is. SNAP issuance is a fully electronic, automated batch process — there's no bank clerk or mail carrier involved — so weekends and federal holidays don't delay it.
This is different from Social Security, which moves payments to the previous business day. With EBT, if your assigned day is the 5th and the 5th is a Sunday, your benefits load on that Sunday.
The exception: business-day states
A few schedules count business days instead of calendar days. The clearest example is Pennsylvania, which staggers benefits over the first 10 business days of the month. In those schedules, weekends and federal holidays are skipped entirely, so the actual calendar dates shift from month to month.
New York City also spreads deposits over days that exclude Sundays and holidays, so NYC dates change slightly each month (the rest ofNew York State uses fixed calendar days).

- SNAP offices: local offices close on weekends and state holidays — but they don't need to be open for your deposit to load.
